Ancient Kauri – World’s Oldest Wood Now at Woodcraft
Ancient Kauri from New Zealand is the oldest workable wood in the world. Tsunamis leveled the mighty Kauri thousands of years ago and they have been preserved underground in the top half of the North Island of New Zealand for more than 45,000 years. The further north they are found, research has shown the older the Kauri is.

The Quick Turned Bowl with John Wolf
You might say, what’s the big deal about turning a bowl in about 3 hours time, anyone can do that! Well in this project we will instruct you on how to turn a bowl while it’s green, dry it, finish it, all in just a few hours. John Wolf (from the Turning Tuesday’s woodworkers) shows us how it’s done starting out with a piece of “green” curly maple saved from the scrap pile.

Helps keep my sandpaper orgainized
Just what I needed for finishing my wood turning projects.

Its so handy to have in my shop
This is the best product that I have ordered. I use the first heavy grit twice to make sure my pens are shaped corretly. It works great when wet as well. I have three boxes in my shop so I will never be with out them.
-
i would buy this product again
very good product
-
i will buy again
works great for sanding on lath
-
600 not so great.
The finer grits left sanding marks on my pen blanks. A small piece of Norton 3X worked much better for 400 grit. And a piece of 600 wet dry (used dry) worked a whole bunch better than the the roll. I would consider the 600 grit roll in this pack unusable.

Handy Dandy
I use for finishing pen turnings. Handy with a small footprint, good selection of sanding grits. Needs a little better tear mechanism but once you get used to using the tear strip, it works ok
-
Wood turners sanding pack
a easy to access variety of cloth backed sanding paper.
-
A handy item easily available.
Especially useful in pen making. I've used strips like these for years.
-
i will buy again when out.
much better than using sheets.
-
GREAT sanding pack
Graet sanding pack for making pens.
-
I would but this productiong again
The things i liked about this proudct was it ability to smooth in groves and small places.
-
Handy but could be better
Handy and convienent but poor quality sandpaper. Would also be nice if grit number was printed on back so it could be easily identified after tear off.
-
looks good but think again
Very poor quality sandpaper
-
Great for a newb that's about it!
This stuff will work at first. But if your a serious turner you will buy sheets and cut pieces for sanding!
-
ez fix woodriver
Liked everything about this sandpaper..only fix ,and it would be simple, is to print the back with the grit size..otherwise I have to lay it out in order and hope it doesn't get pushed around..
-
Hate it
I tried using this for sanding pens, etc., and found that it just immediately caked up and wasn't effective. And the backing is so stiff its like taking a file to your project. I'd rather use garnet sandpaper or foam-backed pads.
-
Much better than other packs I used
I make make pens, pencils, bowels, and other turnings all the time. I have tried other brands and the biggest sanding problems were caused by the grit in the sandpaper being more than one size one the same strip. Since I started using the Woodriver sanding packs, I eliminated all the frustrations of having to resand an almost finished item because of a bad sanding strip. The Woodriver packs have been very consistant and long lasting.
-
It's sandpaper
It's sandpaper, it does its job. Makes it quick and easy to keep track of different grits.
-
Would buy again
sanding pen & yo-yo's The size is great for these projects.
-
Good product for the money
Excellent product for woodturning, without having to buy large rolls that cost much more.
-
it does the job
This product would be better (albeit more expensive) if there were more grits. The grits jump from 150 to 240. There should be at least four more grits. On the low end 120 to hogg off the material. Then between 150 and 240 there should be 180 and 220 to really relieve the scratch marks and on the high end, 800 grit to give the wood a soft lustre of its own before adding friction polish. I supplied the missing grits myself and this "kit" was then complete.
-
Good sand paper
You need to keep track of the gits as they are not marked on the individual rolls.
-
Great for Pens
I use these abrasives for pen turning. I wet sand, and usually stepping through the grits with a 1" square of each is perfect. You can even rinse it out and reuse it if you want to. The box did not last long enough to refill it, but I liked the rolls so much I made a box for them.
-
"Great Product"
The size of the strips make it easy to get into tight places. I get 3-4 bottle stoppers out of each piece. It is nice to have all the grits needed in one cost effective package that takes up little space
-
Convenient packaging
Puts most used sandpaper in a convenient package. Love that it has a cutter built in.
-
The right grits.
This is great for sanding bowls on my lathe. By the time I am done sanding with 600 grit, the surface is as smoothe as glass.
-
john
saves space easy to use
-
Sandpaper's great, box not so much.
The sandpaper is very good, but the tearoff strip on the box ripped off the second time I tore off a strip. Minor hastle.
-
Handy roll of sandpaper
This is my first box of sanding rolls, but it won't be the last. Just tear off a small piece using the cutter on the box. It is very handy to have 6 grits at your fingertips for finishing small projects. Quality product, reasonable price.
-
5 grits progressive sandpaper
Quality sandpaper with heavy backing. I am using it mostly on turnings. Convient to pull and tear what I need off the roll. Duh! Why haven't I bought this before now.
-
godd convenient abrassive
WHAT CAN i SAY BASIC QUALITY SAND PAPER
-
Nice Product
Very convenient, nicely organized and compact.
-
Would buy again
Great for small projects from your lathe.
-
Not just for turners
Great for refinishing small hard-to-get-to places --- I use it on ornate pieces and gun stocks
-
A handy item to have
All fo the basics for sanding your turned project in one box. Only thing that would make it better IMO is to make it longer and add some higher grits. Other then that, a very handy item to have in the shop.
-
handy, smart and usefull
best use is for small caliber wood turning and it is quit strong for the process especially the fier grains
-
GREAT PRODUCT!! GREAT PRICE!!!
I used it on a Lathe for turning pens and small projects. I like the size for this type of work.
-
Excellent for turning
The only downside is initially getting the end of the rolls out the mouth of the box. The cloth backed paper lasts a long time!
-
Good paper
I use this product to finish some of my woodwork for what i use it for it works grate but it's to small to use on anything but the lathe
-
Sanding Pack+
For over two years I have used this product to finish pens, stoppers, and small bowls that I have turned. It is very convenient having all of the grits in one box. The fact that you can get 'replacement rolls' also makes this box of sandpaper extremely useful. One of the best finishing products I have used.
-
Great idea
I found this device in an ad from Woodcraft but needed to order one as probably every other wood turner thought these were a good idea as well, and my local store was sold out. It is quick way to move through a variety of grits with a minimum of waste.
-
a really neat and handy product
lathe projects
-
Quick, easy, economical sanding
Great system to progressively sand spindle turning projects.
-
Looks good
I have yet to use this item, but I plan on using it for sharping aas well as for sanding carving projects. I look forward to great things.
-
Handy progressive sanding for woodturner
Easy to use a small amount of sandpaper at a time. Probably best for spindle work.
-
EXCELLENT PRODUCT
Great for hobby use

Won't buy again
I bought this box of paper to easily get me started turning pens. While it is a great idea the paper doesn't last at all. I found that this paper is essentially a "use it once and throw it away" type of paper. I found that buying good quality Norton paper from Woodcraft in all the sizes I wanted, and then cutting them into 1" wide strips and stapling the various grits together into a packet was far more cost effective and the paper lasts at least 10 times longer than this stuff. I would stay away!
-
Great product at a good price
A very convenient way to have what you need at your fingertips.
-
Good concept
The concept is great but the delivery is weak. The paper will easily fall back into the box making it difficult to retrieve quickly. The paper also seems to load up quicker than any I have used. It is quite strong and flexible but just doesn't sand well for more than a few seconds before it loads up.
-
Great Sandpaper Pack
I use the sandpaper daily to make sand my wood pens that I turn. This sandpaper works great & is long lasting.
-
The right size for turning pens.
Just the right size and grits to use with pen turning.
-
Turners Saanding Pack
I turn Pens, Pencils and other small prokects on my Midi-Lathe. Bigger projects on my Craftsman Lathe. All need to be finished efficiently. This set of sanding rolls work great for all. I also use super-fine pads for special projects. Ralph Schauber
-
I would buy this again.
I use this product for pen turning.
-
Nice
I really like the little metal strip on the bottom of the box.....it makes tearing off strips much easier. The sand paper is great too.....resists loading up very well
