Easy to apply Great results

Nice tough finish.
I bought a quart to seal and finish two countertops I made. I'm a pure DIY'er around the house. I built a 4x6' maple butcher block top for a kitchen island. Decided against the mineral oil approach to prevent the regular maintenance that is needed. Also had a short walnut top for a media room bar. The results were awesome! Downsides are: 1- that it requires a lot of coats. I ended up applying 4 coats total with a light sanding of 320 between coats 3 and 4. In all honesty it could probably have used 5 or 6+ coats as I barely have a uniform sheen with the 4 coats (and they were NOT applied sparingly). 24 hours between coats. 2- very strong odor until dry and then a faint odor will linger for several days. I would say this product is 100% unusable in a space that is currently being lived in. 3- product will gel. I did as recommended and poured a small amount in a cup each time I used it. I never put any back into can once poured out. After the 4th coat (only 5 or 6 days after starting project) I had about 10% left in the can. I waited a couple days and had a few small areas I wanted to touch up a few spots. The small remaining amount was like jello. Definitely squeeze can with clamp as you go. Strongly suggest You-tubing Waterlox before using the stuff. An hour of browsing videos on the subject will help tremendously! Overall VERY happy with my results but don't believe for one second this product is as easy as wiping on some mineral or Tung oil a few times and calling it good. It does dry and harden which makes it more demanding when it comes to the finishing process. Will use this again!

Exciting finish on beautiful wood
This stuff is my go to for finishing. You can't really mess it up. This really brings out the character in wood. 1-2 coats is ok, but 4-5 coats is amazing. Use 320 every couple of coats. Learned about it from askwoodman on youtube and found woodcraft to be best price. Professional finish for a hobbyist without need for messy spray systems. Use Handscrew woodclamp on can to force finish to top of can when done. Put top on it and remove clamp. No problems with exposure to oxygen.

This is my primary finish
When I make a piece of furniture, it's all about the wood; the color, the grain pattern, even the texture of the wood. Waterlox Original Sealer Finish has a nice low luster finish, it adds depth to figured wood, and it allows you to feel the texture of the wood as you run your hand over the piece. Wood is not only beautiful to the eye, it is also beautiful to the hand. Waterlox is my primary finish. Waterlox, used on the inside of an enclosed cabinet, in my opinion, retains a fairly strong odor for quite some time. I use Waterlox for the 1st coat (for depth and color) and follow up with 2-3 coats of wipe on poly.

Waterlox for butcher block counter tops
Provides very clear, deep, finish without the 'plastic' look of urethane varnish. Takes 24 hours or more for initial dry/cure. Should wait a week before intense use of the surface. Needs good ventilation while drying. Hard to find in usual 'big box' stores.

This stuff is fantastic!
Made my red oak floors look amazing. Sanded new floors at 80 grit then 120 grit and applied 3 coats. Highly recommend over polyurethane. Maybe more expensive but its worth every penny. My wife was speechless when she saw it.

Superb Finish
This is an easy to apply finish that gives you excellant results. You may also want to try General Finishes Armor Seal if you need something even more durable. One thing I foud out the hard way was that you must not work out of the can and it's a good idea to spray some Bloxegen or Compressed Gas like Dust remover you use on your computer or camera into the Walterlox can after each use. This stuff will gel on you if you induce too much oxygen into the can. All I was doing was applying the oil with a rag out of the can and within about 10 days of use, the oil started to gel. Once it does that, you can't fix it. I suggest dumping out some in a little cup or bottle. Only use what you need and don't dump the used finish back into the can if you have any left over. Waterlox suggested tipping half full containers upside down so the can is sitting on the cap. This will prevent dead air from geling the finish. At [$] per quart you really need to be careful with how you store this product and apply it. Hope this helps you out.

Easy to use and great finish
Remember to use in well vented space, that is dust free. Use foam brush for application do a light sand after 4 or 5 coat. 8 coats is a very durable finish. If you want to use polyurethane consider this product as a better choice.

The best hand finish on the market
I wipe this finish on with soft cotton cloth using smooth even strokes. I do 4 to 6 coats sanding lightly with a 320 sponge in between each coat. Do one coat a day letting dry overnight.

This product turnes to a gel very quick. Be prepare to transfer to small containers to keep from letting air into the container and rendering this product usless..

I am using this product to coat Salt and Pepper mills to keep them from getting water stains in the kitchen and to make them more durable.

Best finish
Waterlox Original is my 'go-to' finish for almost everything. I prefer oil finishes and this has a tung oil base which gives more protection than linseed oil bases. I make a lot of tables so this is perfect. Also the finish looks crisp not muddy. It also drys faster than a lot of other oils so I can wipe a coat on in the morning and another at night.

Waterlo Original Sealer/Finish is Great
Leaves a beautiful finish on Ash. You just need to take your time and allow at least 24 hours between coats. Light steel wool may help before final coat.

Waterlox is great.
Being a wood turner (hobby), I wanted to save money in my finishing products so I had stayed away from Waterlox because it is expensive. After not being happy with results, I gave in and bought the best product out there, Waterlox. A little goes a long way and the results are magnificent; highlights wood grain beautifully and protects the piece. Could have saved cash by buying the best right off the bat.

Wonderful Product (but now reformulated)
I've used this product for years, so was disappointed to learn that that gallon sizes will soon will be unavailable in Illinois as formulated. Apparently, some new law has gone into effect and Waterlox, in order to be sold in Illinois, has to now be low VOC, which changes its formulation and according to the manufacturer is no longer compatible with the old formulation. This was disappointing to me as I am midway through a floor.

Better than Danish Oil
I've used this instead of Danish Oil to create a finish with some shine. Goes on smoothly with a rag or brush. Takes about 2 coats or more to develop an even shine finish depending on the type of wood. I use it for finishing small boxes. Takes a bit longer to dry so you have to watch for dust settled on the piece. Using a small piece of brown paper bag from the grocery store will rub off the dust without damaging the shine. If it is too shiny, just rub down with 0000 steel wool; it will still have a nice low sheen finish afterwards, but can leave shiny spots in large wood pores.
