Evaporation and oxidation begin when you first open a can of finish, and each time you open the can it gets worse, eventually rendering any remaining finish unusable. Transferring the finish into one of our StopLossBags™ and squeezing out the air means the finish can be used to the last drop. StopLossBags™ are made from a special 3 ply wall, each ply being a different material and thickness to prevent transpiration of water, alcohol, organic solvents and oxygen. Finish stays in, oxygen stays out, squeeze out only what finish you need and the rest of the finish in the bag stays fresh until you need it. It’s really that simple.
Features:
- StopLossBags™ prevent finish from going bad
- Special three-ply bag wall keeps finish in and oxygen out
- More usable finish saves money
- Size: Quart
- (1) Finishing Solutions, LLC - StopLossBags - Quart - 4 Pack
- When purchasing StopLossBags™ for the first time, we recommend you purchase a StopLossBags Funnel (#160883) for easier transfer of finish to the bag.

It's in the bag!
Finally finished the quart of finish that I wrote about in my initial review of this product and felt that an update was needed. There was no appreciable loss of finish in the bag. There was, of course, a very small amount of dried finish on the outside of the spout which occurred when decanting and when squeezing out the air prior to resealing and a small amount on the inside of the spout which I covered in my prior review. I was able to use the entire quart of finish, right down to the very last drop. Based on my normal rate of use, the StopLossBag saved abound 25% of the finish. The bag paid for itself with its very first usage. It is now clean and waiting for me to refill it.

Great Product!
I just used some wipeon poly that I had put into the StopLossBag on Jan 19, 2015. There was a very small ring of solidified finish at the very top of the tube. I picked it out with a toothpick and went to work. Mixing is easier and the product does what is claimed. What more could you ask for?

So, they stole my idea!
I throw away more finish than I use. Some finish I use all the way thru, but working on the lathe doesn't require a lot and my finish hardens before its use is up. There is a product called Bloxygen that is simply argon gas that you spray into the finish can before you close it. It is heavier than air and pushes oxygen out of the can prolonging the shelf life. It can get expensive as many times I open and close those cans. Months ago, my father was receiving at home IV antibiotics. I though the empty IV bags without air would be perfect for wood finish. I just didn't think any more into it after I realized I would need some way of injecting the finish into the bags. So I saw these in woodcraft shortly after and had to try them. So far so good. But I still say they need to be hung like an IV and have a valve and hose from each bag. Now, time is needed to see how the finishes hold up in the bags.
