Not the best
The seams stick out, snagging your knife when doing pull cuts above your thumb, making this thumb guard more dangerous for this type of cut than not wearing a thumb guard at all. And the elastic fabric is of a terry cloth type that catches small wood chips, and later inserts them into the skin at the root of your nail, where it hurts the most. These went in the garbage, and I'm back to using medical cloth tape.

Good quality--feel safer while carving
Thumb guard is much better than others I have tried. I like the leather protection all around my thumb. It is a little large, but my wife sewed a seam up one side and it now fits great. Feel much safer while carving that I did before since my entire thumb is protected by leather. The packet contained two thumb guards, which I don't remember reading about in the product description.

A "NEED IT NOW" product
I picked one up for myself and one for my son as this product has saved my thumb numerous times. A perfect fit and great for paring cuts.

protects thumb
good protection while carving

A must purchase
Handy and necessary for a carver. While I haven't tried the carving gloves, this thumb guard has worked well for me. I put a couple of strips of duct tape around the worn areas, though, for a little extra thumb protection.

Not quite the answer
This item was not up to Woodcraft standards. Has heavy, bulky seams and doesn't stay in position as well as I'd hoped. Provides protection but not comfort and flexibility. Went back to using an index finger out of an old leather glove w/good results.

I would buy this product again
Use some protectors when carving. No blisters.

Just Right
Saves your thumb; worth the small price.

A must for anyone putting knife to wood
I can't count the number of times this has saved my thumb while carving and whittling. Don't take out a carving knife or palm chisel without one of these on your thumb!
