Great Customer Service
Received the bandsaw and there was a small defect on the table. I contacted customer service via email and got a response the same day. They asked for pictures, which i sent and they determined that a new table should be sent out. Saw was easy to setup following the youtube videos. As this is my first bandsaw i can not say how it compares to other brands but i am really happy so far with the purchase.

Cuts Like a Laser, With Features Usually Found On 240Volt Cabinet Saws
The Laguna 1412 can run on standard 120v, however it has many of the nice features found on larger cabinet saws. A large quick-release blade tension lever makes blade changes a snap. The large throat plate insert helps you see what you're doing to set the ceramic guides. The ceramic guides might just be my favorite feature of this saw. With 5 points of contact above the table, and five points of contact below the table, the blade has excellent control. I also really like the rack and pinion system for adjusting the guide height (cut height). It maintains perfect alignment as it travels up and down by a hand crank. The ceramic guides stay in alignment, and the blade stays square to the table... regardless of cut height. The tall re-saw fence is fantastic for its intended purpose. However, it can get in the way for shorter cuts, so you flip the fence on its side for a "flat" mode. This works fairly well, but I like the re-saw made better. At any rate the fence slides smoothly on a nylon guide, and locks down securely. Everything about the 1412 seems professional and easy to use. Even the optional LED snake light is well designed and lights up the work surface as intended. I can highly recommend this model. Love it.

Great with minor issues...
The saw works great, however there are a couple minor "inconveniences". The bottom door hits the fence, so the fence must be moved out of the way for the door to open fully. Not a big deal to me because I don't plan to change blades often. The lower guides are under the table, so there isn't much room for your hands to adjust to make adjustments. Also, a brake would be nice but not a big deal for me. I knew when I bought the saw that it didn't have a brake. I highly recommend watching the YouTube assembly videos before or during assembly. The saw was super easy to "square up" and assemble. Great saw for the money.

Excellent
I could not be happier with this bandsaw. Follow the setup instructions and it cuts true, even thick resaw cuts. I've cut 8" with not problems. Laguna has a series of vids to set up the bandsaw. A few little quirky things, like you have to loosen two screws and drop a gate to open the lower door. And the bottom guides are not easy to get to for adjustment. But those are minor things, in my opinion.

Perfection
I bought my 1412 at the Roanoke store the help was terrific I got it home and with the help of a friend we got it to gether in less than too hours it works like a charm very quiet no vibration resawed a 2x10 perfectly never slowed down the mobility kit makes moving it around easyLOVE MY LUAGUNA

Not worth the money
The blade tracking system is terrible Please be careful of what you purchase and ask questions.

Not what we expected.
We own a Laguna 14 SUV bandsaw, and love it. Bought this 14-12, based on reviews, as a second saw. Believe me, there is no comparison. The SUV blows away this lightweight saw. Things I don't like: 1.) The blade tensioner handle is situated in the throat of the saw. Duh! 2.) The blade re-tensioner operates on the up-stroke instead of the downstroke, unlike other bandsaws. For old guys with shoulder issues, pulling down on the lever is far easier than pushin up on a lever above one's shoulders. Duh! 3.) The blade guides are ceramic, which is good, but they won't stay in position unless superglued. They ruin blades if they work their way out. Duh! 4.) The adjustable arm that holds the upper guides is sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. There should be no lateral play, but there is huge play. Duh! 5.) One cannot adjust the lower blade guides without removing the table. Just another of the poorly engineered decisions on this bandsaw. 6.) No foot brake. Blade coasts for ages. In short, spend the extra money and get a real bandsaw, the SUV. It is well worth the extra dollars.

Great Bandsaw
Needed a bandsaw to resaw wood for guitars. Sold my General, which I dearly missed I thought. Not so once I put this sucker together. Very easy to do by myself, leaving it in the styrofoam packing while bolting on the base and the mobile hardware and lifting it, motor facing up. Put a "Resaw King" blade (cry once, then enjoy) and began resawing some black walnut in sequenced 1/8" slices without any drift what so ever. Re-tension handle was originally not too reassuring but has earned my trust, as the blade runs just as it did when originally adjusted. Read reviews about laments over the old ones made in Italy. Huh? This one blows them all away IMHO.

AMAZING!! I’d give it more than five stars if I could!
Considering I upgraded from the Rikon 10” bandsaw, I think most 14” bandsaws would be pretty good. That said, the Laguna 14-12 is impressing my woodworking friends regardless of the size of their bandsaw. This is saw has MUCH more capacity than I ever expected and I believe it is highly under rated!! Do yourself a favor and splurge for their resaw king blade, you won’t need to plane afterwards. Possibly a light sanding, but I haven’t needed to yet!

Excellent Saw! One of my favorite machines in the shop!
This was an upgrade from my 10 year old 9" store brand bandsaw from a box store. The 9" saw was incapable of sawing through 2" thick material without the blade getting stuck or the belt slipping. So time to upgrade! Anyway, this saw was not difficult to set up. I watched the videos about setup on YouTube put out by Laguna and it was easy. After set up was completed, this thing works like a charm! I have been able to re-saw material 12" thick with no problem, cut bowl blanks out of rough sawn log slices with no difficulty. With the thin blade, I was able to make some very nice band saw boxes. I could not be more pleased with the bandsaw. I have a 5/8" blade for re-sawing and bowl blank trimming, and a 3/16" blade for more delicate work. The light attachment is a great addition. I have the mobile base attachment also, and it works as expected.

Great Bandsaw
I bought this saw after agonizing over the other 14" saws out there. This replaced an ancient Craftsman 12" saw. Holy Cow! I should have done this years ago. I haven't used it to it's capacity yet, but this thing sure liked to resaw! Had a minor issue with one of the ceramic guides not fully seated. Called Laguna, and they advise to heat it up and push it in. Worked like a charm. Now it's tuned, and oh my, does it resaw.

Poor Blade Guide Design and Too Much Vibration
I purchased this band saw less than 2 years ago. First thing I noticed was what I thought there to be too much vibration. There is no reason for one of these saws not to run smooth. Second the ceramic guides are a poor design. They spark and tend to come out of their grooves while sawing and ruin the blade. Adjustments don't help. I have given up on the guides and will replace them with roller guides. Third, the blade doesn't stop quickly when the stop button is pressed. I find this dangerous and should be required on all saws. Fourth, there isn't enough hp. I would recommend shopping around before purchasing this saw. Factor in after market upgrades in your budget if you buy this saw. I would return it if I could.

Well made saw
I got mine from Woodcroft in Orlando. Really great guys to deal with. I drove up to see the saw although I had read a lot about it I did not want to purchase it sight unseen. As luck would have it out of stock but within seven days I had one delivered. Packaging was first rate along with fit and finish. The manual leaves something to be desired but Laguna makes up for it with their set up video on their website. Really top-notch. As for performance I would give it 9/10. The blade drift was not as easy to adjust as I would have hoped but I do have it finally dial them. Plus, as noted in other reviews on different forums the bottom door gets caught up on the washer that is attached to the mobile base. Not a big deal but certainly an annoyance. Overall I'm really pleased with the saw. The resaw king blade is a joy to work with and over all the saw is such an improvement over my 20-year-old 14 inch Delta.

Great saw for the money
I have had my saw for about a month now and have used it a lot. The set up was very easy to do alone and everything fit perfect. Tables lined up with no problems, fence was square. I have seen other reviews and some complained about fit and finish, mine was great. It is a smooth running and quiet saw with plenty of power. I have mostly used it for cutting 8/4 hardwood and 12/4 hardwood.

a little disappoiinted...
Have bot used it much yet. Overall, excellent cut quality compared to the Ridgid big box store this replaces. Not bad to set up IMHO. Easily did alone. The few cuts made so far a straight and true. YES! THe one issue is the blade tracking. Sent email to customer servicce at laguna, waiting for the response. The bade is centered on the top wheel, offset to the front on the bottom. The blade runs back to front going top to bottom. This means the top guide when properly set up when the guide is down, pushes the blade forward when raised. So the top guide needs to be repositioned if ever moved vertically. Not a huge deal, but I'm sure I will not always remember this.

Smooth as Butter
This is the best bandsaw on the market for the money period. I do my homework before I purchase anything. I have used this saw for a while now and I can attest to solid performance. I have made several angle cuts with this machine and its well thought out design. When I set up the saw It took me and my brother 5 hours to set it up including mobility kit and light kit. We took our time with the well laid out instructions with pics were a plus. The first time I put a blade in it was kind of scary but I have since purchased an additional blade for intricate work and I can replace one in under 5 minutes. If you are buying a saw for the name get a Powermatic If you want a saw that is Quiet and smooth get the Laguna 14-twelve. I will take a look at Laguna products from now on when purchasing any major shop machines. The guys at the Indy Woodcraft always celebrate with you when you drive away with any new machine. They spent hours over several visits on this purchase. Thanks for all the knowledge.

Review Up Date
Ok my last review I had just completed the assembly and not had the opportunity to cut anything. Since then, I have used the saw numerous times and so far has cut everything I've tried without bogging down. My test cut was a piece of black walnut about 7" square, 2 ft long. Knots and all sliced right through it as fast as I could send it through. Not that I make all my cuts this was I wanted to see what the saw was capable of. WOW! I could not believe How nice the cut was or how powerful the saw is. I guess I owe a shout out to the blade too. I'm sure the teaming the saw with the re-saw king carbide tooth blade is the paring for the saw. This is an awesome machine and my buddies at Woodcraft couldn't have been any better. Thanks guys! and Thanks Laguna!!!

Amazing except the speed
The overall bandsaw is fantastic the only issue which is very minor is the set up and the blade takes a while to slow down after each cut.

Wow
Fabulous band saw. I think the pros have all been mentioned. I found assembly to be pretty straight forward and honestly only referenced the instructions for the wheel base I bought for it. One thing worth mentioning is Woodcraft's phenomenal customer service. My first band saw was damaged by the shipping company and Woodcraft had a replacement ready to go out the door in short order. Even with a back order, I got the new saw within a week. Thank you Woodcraft for amazing customer service.

My First Bandsaw
After having researched the various 14" bandsaws in this price range, and after seeing the positive reviews, I decided on the Laguna 14-12 as my first bandsaw. I will primarily be using the bandsaw for resawing. I just completed assembly and adjustment of the machine, and I am very pleased with the overall design and workmanship. Additionally, I am pleased with the customer service. When unpacking the machine, I found that one small part was missing. I called Laguna customer service and a few days later the part arrived in the mail. One problem area, which was mentioned by other reviewers, is the adequacy of the owner's manual. However, I found a video on the Laguna website in which they demonstrate the complete process of unpacking, assembly and setup of the bandsaw. That video answered all of my questions. I also purchased the optional mobility kit, light and resaw king blade. I have a small shop, so the mobility kit was essential. The mobility kit mechanisms work very well. While the light seems to be of good quality, the location is such that I have bumped by head on it a few times. The resaw king blade seems to cut very well, although I have only made a few cuts with it up to now. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and consider this bandsaw an excellent addition to my shop.

Just got one after a long wait.
Well I just finished assembly of the saw and I have to say some of the other reviews were dead on about the instructions, being a little vague. I was able to figure out the gray areas and finished assembly in about 2-1/2 hours. I haven't installed the blade (re-saw king) and run the machine yet, so for now this is all I have to offer. More will follow but so far I'm very pleased. I can't wait to see how it slices through my project woods.

Great saw, great price!
I use this saw to resaw just about every type of wood you can imagine. With my resawing taken in to account I have been using a Timber Wolf 3/4in blade with a low TPI. The saw itself never shows any hit of struggle or slowing down. Considering I resaw some of the hardest woods you can find it's great. A few example of this woods I have resawed would be West African Ebony, Purple Heart, Brown Ebony, Oak, Blood Wood, Madagascar Ebony... In part you have to give Timber Wolf blades some credit but the band saw itself unlike my older saw just keeps cutting. This is impressive also considering I run it off 120v not 240v which the saw is also capable of. The additional features this saw has are also great, the fence is pretty good and the ease of blade changing is also amazing. For the cost I would find it hard for anyone to find a new band saw similar in function / price.

good bandsaw
I had an entry level band saw (Rigid)and was largely ignorant about band-saws when I purchased it. I only knew you could spend as much or as little as you want on them. It was $400.00 so I went with it. I also found out you get what you pay for. I could not re-saw with it, and that was what I wanted to use it for. I did a lot of research on this saw before I purchased it. It is heavy, and was difficult to assemble and set up by myself. Some people said it took them two hours to set it up. I wanted to do it right the first time and it took me two days (about four hours each day) to set it up. The mobile base and ceramic blade guides were both difficult, frustrating, and time consuming. Having your own metric tools is also a great help. I did not purchase the light kit as I believed it to be in the way, as did many other reviewers who had purchased the light kit. I purchased a good re-saw blade for it, but not the re-saw King by Laguna because it was so expensive. Ok, now the good news. The very first thing I did with it was re-saw a piece of aromatic cedar. I absolutely loved it. All of my frustrations disappeared. The fence works beautifully and the results were quite gratifying. Afterwards, the piece could use a little sanding or planning to smooth it completely, but overall, I loved it. I understand the Re-saw King blade by Laguna even eliminates most of that, and am ordering one. The weight of the saw makes it very stable and has many features that make the saw easy to use. I feel any difficulties or frustrations in the saw's set-up are greatly overwhelmed by the quality and ease of its use. I am very happy with the saw and would highly recommend it to other woodworkers.

Just one issue
I really do wish this could have been a five-star review since I saved for this saw and being on retirement, that was not easy. Without writing an essay, in every other respect the saw is top of the line. My problem was with the bland tension handle, it does not work. I assume this is an easy fix, or maybe just a user error but I cannot get any customer service. If I can't get help with this, I'm going to have to edure the nightmare of packing/ and shippng it back.

Great bandsaw for the money
A beautiful bandsaw that's perfect for the serious hobbiest. I use this machine mostly for resawing and cutting through 12" wide hard maple is no problem. Their support team is also very accessible and helpful. I had a question about setting the fence and received a friendly call from one of the product managers. Highly recommended.
