The Jet® Air Filtration System cleans and circulates the air in your shop while you work, filtering 98-99% of all particles, five microns in size and 85% of particles one micron in size. The Model AFS-1000B has 3 speeds: 550, 702 and 1044 CFM. At a rate of 1044 CFM, the system can filter the air in a 20' x 20' x 8' shop in under five minutes, and filter the air in that size shop a dozen times an hour. Quiet running so it can be left on during work. And with the timer, you come into your shop, set the timer for two, four or eight hours and forget it. The system automatically shuts down at the time you've set. A remote control is included for convenience. The powder coated metal box is heavy duty. Fan and motor are also constructed for durability. Three pocket filter fits inside, and can be blown out or easily replaced without tools. Outer filter is a convenient standard size disposable electrostatic filter with a paper frame. Units are designed to be set on a workbench or hung from the ceiling, either tight against the ceiling or hanging from chains. Eyebolts are in place for hanging the unit. Two easy grip handles inset on both sides for ease of handling.

A Must Have
I have a small shop in my walkout basement and even running fans I could not keep the dust down. It's mounted on the ceiling next to the longest wall in my shop about a third of the distance from the end and 6" from the wall. It does a great job filtering the air and removing the dust. I wish I had purchased it sooner.

The best shop investment
I have a shop in the basement of and dust is a big issue. I gave the shop a complete cleaning and installed the Jet Air Filtration System. It does take two to hang it, very little noise. I am in the finishing stages of a project and a lot of sanding the dust was minimal. Wish I had purchased it before..

Should be the first tool for everyone!
I have a dust collector, but there is still a lot of fine particles that get missed. The AFS-1000 picks up where the dust collector leaves off. The low speed is very quiet, and it starts gently, which is really nice for a unit that hangs from the ceiling. It comes with hardware for both types of mounting, BUT NO CHAINS. Batteries included, Jet even includes two pieces of velcro to stick the remote somewhere! Having a remote makes this a piece of cake to turn on/off. The LED's on the unit are large, so it is easy to see what settings are on (Speed: low, medium, high and Time: 2, 4, 8 hours).

Great product, works well
Good range of air volume processing: 500 to 1000 CFM (changes air volume in triple garage space over 10 times per hour). Helps to keep air circulating. Unit is heavy and cumbersome for one person to install -- best hung by two people. Eye-bolts on top of box are located at 24 and 16" centers for hanging from ceiling joists. Common sized outer filter (12 X 24) can be found at any home improvement store.

Great Product and Excellent Performance
Powerful fan is reasonably quiet for the amount of air it moves. Clears the air well in my 20x30 little wood shop. Here's the tricky part... at 60-pounds +, you're not going to heft this up to the ceiling by yourself, PROBABLY. I figured out how to do it myself by stringing a bunch of bungee cords from the ceiling hooks, then lifting the box by hand about 3-6" at a time and rearranging and removing the bungees until it was about 6" from the ceiling hooks, and then I hooked it up with ornamental link-chains. Only problem was: the included mounting loops are not the same spacing as the ceiling beams, so the chains are at an angle. Because the motor isn't centrally-located in the box, the center of gravity isn't halfway between the loops, either, so it's hard to get it to hang level, but overall, that's no big deal. Now, if it only had the indicator dial that the Delta 3-speed has, it would be perfect. OH, and the remote seems to work from any direction; it appears to not be a line-of-sight infrared at all, or at least seems to work as well as any radio-frequency remote I've ever used. Love it! Wish I'd installed one years ago!

I really researched this one. Customer Service at Jet was very helpful answering all my questions before I purchased as were the people at Woodcraft. It came packed very carefully with foam inserts inside to protect the fan housing. Runs quiet works great and there are no problems with the remote with it being plugged in to the same circuit as my standard fluorescent lights. I was worried about this because of comments from others and decided I would just add another circuit if I had to as I really wanted to do something about the dust. The line of sight issue with the remote doesn't bother me either I just keep the remote on my bench which is near the unit anyway. Not to bad of an install if you have two people and a couple of six foot ladders. We put the unit on top of the ladders with two small hydraulic jacks and 2x blocks under it, jacked it up and that held it to the ceiling until I could screw it to the 2x joists and blocking. The unit is well built and I recommend it.

This unit really sucks
Hung the Jet Unit from the ceiling of my shop, air hosed the saw dust and dirt from the shelves, let the unit run for two hours, and my shop is clean. My wife commented that my shop even smells alot cleaner. I would highly recommend this unit to any body.

Excellent air filtration system.
I only installed it about a week ago, but so far the Jet air filtration unit seems to be very effective at doing its job. The one downside is that the remote control does not work consistently, so that sometimes I need to get up on a stool to push the controls on the unit itself (which I mounted on the ceiling to avoid taking up precious wallspace in my 18 x 18 ft shop-in-the-making).

Good system
I saw this reviewed in a magazine, FWW I think. It won the pick. It clears the air of dust particles really quickly after stirring them up with my air hose. My only complaint is that they may have provided better mounting hardware since what they provided was difficult for me to do by myself. Get someone to help you mount if you are mounting to the ceiling.

Pleased with purchase. Have not had long enough to determine efficiency yet. Appears sturdy and well made. Note remote allows 3 run time intervals, 1hr,2hr, & 3 hr. Does not include instructions as to placement of unit in workshop but this can be found on the internet. Requires two to hang from ceiling but with ingenuity I accomplished alone. Wouldn't recommend it though.

Good Unit
This is my first air filter so I am not comparing to other models. I found this unit to be quieter than expected. The fan is strong and provides a nice breeze in the shop. I can see the fine dust headed over to the intake so I know it is working. It is a little awkward to hang on the ceiling but I managed to do it solo - I wouldn't recomend a similar strategy but you can do it. The remote doesn't have a wide range, in fact, I have to walk around and point it at the back of the unit or it doesn't work. I tend to just use the buttons on the back of the unit b/c I only have it 6.5' off the ground. I would recommend this unit. I trust Jet products and after three weeks of heavy use, this unit seems to fall in line with the quality of other Jet tools that I own.

Clears the air
Every time I blew the dust off the shelves in my workshop, most of it just settled back down. The AFS catches most of this if I run it while cleaning the shop. The dust in the air and on surfaces is noticably reduced when I run it while I work. Note: Get a friend to help you mount it. This is 60 pounds of dead weight.

Excellent product, love the remote
Does a excellent job in my workshop above my table saw. The remote control is a very positive function for this unit. This unit is much quieter than the other brand I had in the shop.

What a difference!
It is hung from the ceiling to be out of my way and still circulate and clean the air of mostly airborn sawdust. Separate wall switch to unit. When ready to use turn on with supplied remote control that is stored on the unit with velcro for safe keeping. Real test will come during winter months when overhead door is closed. With several fan speeds I don't forsee any problems.

the holes for hanging this unit are 15 inches apart not 16 kinda werid but it still worked not too noisey time will tell if it really works. fine woodworking did a review with a few of these units and this scored the highest. be sure to have high ceilings or a real good spot for this

Well built unit with quite adequate hanging hardware. Filters easy to remove when the time comes. Built in selective timer a good feature for setting and leaving the shop. Excellent for cleaning fine dust from work area air.

Great Air Filter for the money

Excellent Choice
My only quibble with this Air Filter is that the remote control, which is a very useful feature, is Infrared rather than using a Radio Frequency; thus requiring a line-of-sight to operate. Despite that, I heartily recommend the Jet.

Not yet in installed
We are in the middle of remodeling and installing unit. It well be about another mouth before I put it to work. The Air system seem to be the thing I need to collect dust when I am carving and working on my collectables. At this point and time I'll say very good, but the test well come around the holidays. Check back by the first of 2011, and I well give you a hear full.

Quiet and easy to use. Reasonably price
It is mounted overhead in my shop and reduces the dust level. It has a timer and will shut off at some predetermined time.

Good Bang for the Buck
After a favorable review in Fine Woodworking I bought this unit on sale, [...] at my favorite supplier, WOODCRAFT. My basement shop is 20' x 20' with 9.5' ceilings. So far it moves a good amount of air, a cooling breeze plus air filtration and is a great addition to my Oneida dust collector. Just consider clean and dirty air movement when you are considering locations for installation, mine is hung from the ceiling.

I read reviews about several air filters, and this one came out on top. I was not disappointed with the Jet when it showed up at my house. [...] It works great, doesn't make much noise, moves a ton of air, and is very easy to use. The price is good too.

Clean Lungs
I'd put off buying an air cleaner always choosing another tool instead. The dust in my shop was a big problem and I knew that my lungs had to be just as dusty. So I did a little research, broke down and bought the Jet unit. I've only had it a little over a month but what a difference it has made. Yeah, I still make dust but my shop stays 95% cleaner.

Pleasant Surprise
The Jet Model AFS-1000B is very well constructed. Very professional in looks and use. It does the job as advertised. The remote is a bonus. I finish in the shop, turn the lights off and carry the remote in the house if I want the fan to continue, but not for 2 hours. After a half hour or so I use the remote through the house window and shop window to shut the unit off. It is a little noisy, but probably less than you'd expect. My floor fan is more noisy. I intend to mount it from the ceiling, when I can get some one to lift it up there. It is heavy. I got it on a table by sliding it in the box, up a 2 x 6.

A Shop Essential
Dust particles are the enemy to your health and to your projects. This air filteration system is a must in every shop. I love the remote and timer feature. I turn it on when I arrive in my shop, set it for 4 or 8 hours and forget it. Low speed does the job very nicely in my 24x20 shop, and I don't even hear it running anymore. It's easy to install and use, although I do wish the filters were cheaper. I vaccuum mine at least twice before replacing them.

A must for any wood shop.
I got mine from WoodCraft a year ago and its been working very well in my 16'x24' shop. I have it hanging from the rafters just off 8' center line in the middle blowing length wise of the shop for good circular air flow. I have an old coal and wood cook stove for heat in the winter. Sometimes when burning coal it gets a little smokey in the shop and this even filters most of that out. I quit smoking 2 yrs ago so I don't know if it will filter that out. There's only two things I don't like about it. 1- Its a bit noisy on low and pretty loud on high. 2- The replacement filters are VERY expensive. If I had checked the cost of the filters I wouldn't have bought it. If the filters were a little more reasonably priced, like half or less of what they are, I would have given it 5 stars with a plus + and a smile ;-)

Unit effective in reducing dust
Purchased for my basement woodwork shop. At highest speed the unit is quite loud and has a slight vibration. On the other hand it is moving an awful lot of air and these are probably to be expected. Fit and finish are good, and I like how the filters are sealed. Have done some testing with a particle counter and the unit is effective in driving down the particle count. There is more to dust control than using this unit, but it is playing an integral role. [...] Replacement was easy and prompt. Overall - very pleased.

Great product ,just right for my shop
Great product. Had them before but lost both when my shop burned. Arrived in perfect condition. Packed well with no dings or dents. Motor was supported very good. The first time I bought them,5 years ago, they were some adjustments I had to do to the motor. Much improved.

I did not hang my unit, I installed it on a 2"x4" frame between the rafter's in my shop, if we did have an earth quack it would not move or fall.

"Want a cleaner, healthier shop"
Takes the really fine particles out of the air that you would see collecting on top of everything. I'm just starting wood projects but think the best approach is to have this tool before it's too late and my lungs have absorbed all that fine dust that escapes the vaccum. I also have 2 JET 500 CFM vaccums.

The air is cleaner
Does the job as it should. Haven't had to clean filters yet, so I can't say anything other than they are easy to remove. Would be nice if some sound proofing had been attempted to reduce the noise, but not a deal breaker at all.

Great unit. I did mount on the ceiling but you need two people to do it!!! I have a rather small shop, 20 x 25 x 9 and it really cleans the air. I like the off the shelf filters most. Glad I bought this unit.
