Excellent heavy duty holdfast
The current version with a large nylon pad and soft red molded grip is excellent. Very strong holding power, easy to use, massive, heavy duty, everything a holdfast should be. I'm buying a second one to hold down long lumber on my Sjobergs 2500 workbench, which is also excellent.

mixed results,
Mixed review......Bought one with my bench two years ago, works perfectly. Bought another recently and it pulls itself out of the hole in the bench as I crank down the clamp... very frustraiting. Returned it and am having the same issue. Meanwhile, the original one bought two years ago works fine. Not sure if the shaft is bent at the correct angle... weird

Sjoberg's Holdfast Strong as a Boar Hog!
I couldn't believe the strength and ease of use of this holdfast. I only had to use one holdfast to keep a 24" X 24" sheet of plywood rock-steady while using my orbital sander.

Get one. No, get two!
Bought one of these with my Elite 2000 workbench two years ago. Very well built and has a STRONG grip. The only problem was that sometimes I needed two of them -- so I fixed that problem with this purchase. Highly Recommended!

Elite Holdfast user
I have watched Charles Neil use these on Mastering Woodworking and they looked like a fast way to hold down your work. But I thought they were way too expensive for a hold down. So I bought two of them any way an after using them, just the mass and amount of steel and the quality of construction of these things is amazing. The white part of is high quality nylon the 1 " steel bar and the casted part is heavy duty. Very good value.
