Description: An Andon (ahn-don) is a traditional Japanese lantern, open at the top and bottom, and with a translucent shade made with handmade paper (washi) to soften the light source. In this class, you'll build a lamp out of maple that is inspired by this traditional form and then select and install paper for the panels. You'll take home a beautiful piece, and leave equipped with a starting point for future designs of your own. NOTE: All materials included since offering this class for the first time.

Description: The focus of this class is to design and draw a 1:1 scale electric guitar plan. Using a Fender Telecaster as a point of reference, we will discuss basic terminology of an electric guitar's parts as well as principles inherent to the function and structure of a guitar. Designing the instrument will include choosing wood, headstock shape, type of neck to body joint, hardware, electronics, and body shape. While the form of an electric guitar's body seems like a free-for-all, we will consider why it isn't--unless you disagree. Join us and other electric guitar enthusiasts as we discuss, ponder, and put these ideas on paper.
