    Polyurethane disintegrated

Installed these on a work bench a few years ago, but the red poly tire disintegrated with only slight use over the time I've had them. The poly appears to age very quickly and loses its resilience. Based on other reviews, this seems to be a common problem.

    Not Recommended

Bought a set of four 3" casters, 2-swivel and 2-fixed about 4 years ago. Installed on a 3'x 4' table used for both tablesaw outfeed and assembly. Total weight of table is well under the weight limit and floor is flat, level solid wood. After less than 2 years of very light use, the red outer part of the caster broke off in large pieces. To Woodcraft's credit, they replaced them at no charge and told me that they have had some issues with these and the manufacturer has fixed the problem. The new casters lasted less than a year. Would not accept free replacements again and currently looking to replace with something better.

    Does the job!

I have a very heavy router table/cabinet that I have caster's on to roll it around my shop. This is my fourth pair. I started with a very inexpensive (cheap) set that would not hold anything still, then I progress through two more, each more expensive, trying to keep my cabinet from rolling while I was running sheet goods through the router. All to no avail until I broke down and ordered these casters. Now my cabinet locks and stays locked and does not roll around when I am routing wood. I am extremely satisfied with these casters and would recommend them highly.

Works great at first but doesn't last

DO NOT BUY THESE CASTERS. A few years ago Woodcraft had these casters on sale at an attractive price, so I bought 16 (12 swiveling and 4 fixed). When they arrived I used 4 of the casters to mobilize a shop cart and 4 more to mobilize an assembly bench. I saved the other 8 casters for future projects. When I first used the casters I was delighted. Although I rarely moved either the cart or the bench (and when I did they were only moved 10 or 15 feet), they rolled smoothly across my concrete shop floor -- much more smoothly than the machines I had mobilized with factory-supplied wheeled bases that had smaller casters. I would have rated these casters at 5 stars. Soon after that I put my shop in storage for 2 years. I have recently gotten it out of storage and have been setting up my shop again. Almost immediately the red polyurethane tires on these wheels stated cracking and then coming off in chunks, much like you see large pieces of tire retreads on the interstate highways. The bench and cart that I had mobilized with these casters are now very difficult to move. As both have been used only on smooth concrete and have rolled no more than 100-120 feet total, clearly these casters are not up to the task. From other reviews it appears that after just a few years the polyurethane tires on these casters disintegrate. Clearly Woodcraft is aware of this problem, yet it continues to sell these casters. So now I have a bench and a cart that won't roll and 8 more brand-new, nice-looking casters that I know will self-destruct if I actually try to use them. Thank you, Woodcraft. A woodshop is a light industrial environment. I expect a company that sells tools and supplies for use in such an environment to sell only those that are up to the task. Those who prefer light-duty pretend tools can always shop at a big-box home retailer. I expect better from Woodcraft.

    Mounting Problem

The mounting holes in the plates are very large. I think most people would like to use standard pan head screws (like #10 or #12) for mounting. The store had no screws that would work - the screw head fell though the mounting hole. The package had no instructions for screwing the plate to a frame.

    Excellent upgrade

Replaced smaller wheels on a router table. This size and wheel material improved the mobility of the table tremendously!

    5th set and counting

I have ordered these casters many times. Used them on lumber cart, lumber rack, clamp rack, router table, work tables, sanding table. They roll easly, lock in place well and allow things to be moved around a small shop as needed. I have had no problems or failures with any of these casters over several years of use.

    Very solid

These things work. I put them on a heavy 32" x 8' very heavy workbench and they can easily handle the weight. And, they hold their lock.

I used these on the shop made base for a Powermatic 6ft Jointer that weights around 230lbs. They roll easily and lock securely.

We buy these all the time.

We make a lot of carts/rolling tables for use in our factory. These allow employees to move small machines (like a chop saw) to where they need them. The locking wheels keep it in place while it is being used.

    Good Quality, Durable Caster

I have used these casters on a number of rolling workstations. Some have several years of wear on them and all have held up well. One set has been used in a unheated garage with no problems so far.

    Quality product

I used these in the workshop to put an outfeed table/storage cabinet on wheels. They roll smoothly, lock securely, and are substantial enough for a heavy metal cabinet.

Great casters. Locks more rigid than any other caster and way better than any cheapy you can get. Well worth the cash if you want to buy once and get your money's worth!

I would put these on everything I own...

...if I could afford to. I love these wheels. I've got a set on my workbench and just got another set for another tool stand I'm finishing. These are top-notch quality...I tried to go to the big box stores to get a cheaper set for my most recent stand, but having already purchased a set of these a year ago, I couldn't bear to settle for the low quality casters I found there. If you don't mind the price tag, you won't regret the purchase. Highly recommended!

    3" Caster

The casters were used as replacements for smaller one a mixing cabinet that my father-in-law made. It did not roll as it was too heavy for the small ones. Minor problem new casters raised it approx. 1".

    Locking Casters that work!

I am using these casters on a mobile table saw stand and I can easily unlock the casters, move the saw and lock them (with the toe of my shoe) and it is locked and stable! The caster doesn't rotate or roll and the saw stays where I put it! Each caster can support 300 lbs, 4 almost a ½ ton! They roll easily and smoothly with little effort! In the past with other casters, they would stick and I'd have to jerk them to straighten and it was a lot of wasted effort. Not so with these casters – a pleasure to use! I rate them a 6 star on a 5 star rating!

I use it for home and work,

The best caster for the money. I have replaced the casters from all my machinery mobil bases with this caster. Nothing locks better and rolls smoother for the money. Some of my casters are 6 years old and have no flat spots. I wish I could write more, but to get a caster that holds 300lbs at [$] and last over 5 years, is all there is to be said.

I own two dozen of these

Most major tools in my shop are on these wheels. I built a large cabinet to support my table saw (Popular WW Little Shop) and increase my storage space at the same time. The whole shebang weighs at least 450 lbs, including all the stuff stored in it. I can still push it around with one finger. The casters lock securely when I want to use any piece of equipment. I've been using these for at least six years and have yet to have a failure. They're on my sanding center, clamp rack, a pair of moving dollies, my son's lathe and one rolling rack in his shop. I just ordered another set of these casters. I plan to replace the stand for my radial arm saw with a rolling cabinet. Stands just hold the tool up in the air. Cabinets take up the same amount of floorspace, but let you store things too.

I built several vertical cabinets to store my Festools. I wanted to be able to roll the cabinets around the shop and these casters work great.

    Red plastic comes off

I have had the red plastic tires on three of these break into pieces, fall off and liter my shop floor. They seem to last one or two years. Used on a router table and clamp rack (I estimate less than 50 pounds per wheel; they are rated at 300 pounds per wheel) They should be more reliable. I keep replacing the failed ones while searching for something more robust.

Rock & Roll wheeling good deal!

For ease of installation and all around use in the shop to make rolling machine, bench or just utility carts these casters fill the bill.. the easy lever lock allows you to lock the casters down and they don't move... and with a flick of your foot, unlock them and glide your project to where ever its needed in the shop or machines.

    Highly Recommended Heavy Duty Casters

I've used these casters under an old, very heavy maple restaurant cabinet on which I've mounted my 13" planer. The combination weighs a ton and these casters have performed extremely well for the past six years. I've noticed that other casters on the market do not come close to the load capabilities of these. I recommend using swivel casters on all four. Previously I had only two, the other two being fixed. It made it a pain to get the piece flat up against the wall. Using four swivels makes movement in any direction a breeze.

    Don't believe the load rating.

I love these casters, at least the design. They roll smoothly and the locking mechanism is positive and solid. My only complaint about this product is durability vs cost. At [$] each, that's [$] for 1 cabinet! I used these on 3 rollaround cabinets in my workshop, and they've been great, with 1 exception. The heaviest cabinet I built is for my table saw (Grizzly, approx 250 lbs). Add say another 75 lbs for the plywood cabinet, and we're at 325 lbs total. These casters are rated at 300 lbs each, and after 3 years, 2 of them fell apart, and the other 2 had cracks in the red plastic, and would have gone soon. They have only been used to roll the saw cabinet around occasionally in the garage, which has a smooth, relatively level floor. The good news is Woodcraft replaced 4 of them for next to nothing [$]. Great service! I suspect I'll be back here in 3 years again with a similar report, but at that replacement cost that's sort of ok, though I'd prefer they change the load rating to maybe 150 lbs instead of 300.

    3" casters a big hit

These casters are an excellent choice and I have used them to support almost all of my projects in the wood shop. I probably will not make another choice.

Compared to these, all others are cheap.

The best casters I have ever used. Compared to these, all others are "cheap". The locking mechanism not only keeps the wheel from rolling, but also keeps it from turning. Rolls easily under very heavy loads. These were put on a 30 inch by 72 inch kitchen island with a granite top. Island can be rolled with one hand!

I would buy this product again

I bought the wheels to replace the old casters that I had on my mobile bases for some of my machines. Now I can use the machines without them trying to roll all over the place. My only regret is I didn't buy enough to replace the ones on my bandsaw.

    More about service than casters.

I bought 4 of these for a heavy outdoor potting bench for my gardener wife. After about 18 months, one crumbled. The red plastic fell apart. Some time later, I called Woodcraft to ask about it. They sent me a replacement [...] The other three seem fine. That was excellent service (if a less than reliable caster). dm
